They could
have stopped
there.
They had a business that worked.
Then they built a world you could walk into.
First,
make it run.
In 2023, Dean Leitersdorf and Moshe Shalev began Decart in Tel Aviv with a practical problem: getting more useful work out of the chips running AI.
The team made the software faster. That work became an enterprise business.
A good beginning. Not the whole idea.
What if you
could step inside?
The faster infrastructure could support something more immediate: a world that changes as you move through it.
Not a film you wait for.
A place that responds.
The useful thing made room for the audacious thing.
Press a key.
Get a world.
On 31 October 2024, Decart and Etched released Oasis. The model generated the next frame from earlier frames and your actions.
Move forward, and it makes what you see next.
20frames each second.
At the original launch.
Not perfect.
No longer imaginary.
The early world blurred. It forgot details. Objects were not always where you expected them to be.
The team published those limitations, alongside code and a smaller model people could run.
Now there was something to try. And something to improve.
Then keep
going.
In January 2026, Decart’s Lucy 2 demonstration moved into transforming video while it streams: a character, an outfit, an entire environment.
The question had grown again.
Not only, “What can we generate?”
“What could someone do with it?”
Give the big idea
a beginning.
You don’t have to know how far it will go.
Make the first version real.
